Post subject: Restriction on certain names! |
|
|
With the recent events of all this nonsense happening and my computer being banned because another person used it, I was wandering could you not put a filter on what words you can and can not use in your names? such as racial hate words, swear words and so on? |

While the idea has merit, I think that players should use common sense and their own morals to choose appropriate names.
It's not Kreso's responsibility to prevent you from being improper, but it is the Mod's role to make you take responsibility for your actions. |

Well, when designing the login system I didn't think of that problem, that is, people are going to use offensive usernames.
Perhaps I need to add a list of offensive words to be filtered for new usernames. |

That might help to limited extent but not fully. Those who want to go to such n extent will mis-spell / get new ways to show abuse. Only permanent solution i feel is comp/ip ban for all such nicks. |

Kreso, before you go trying to create list of abusive names, think of all of the combinations that can exist...
For example, using 1 for an I or L, 3 for an E, zero for an O, etc.
I think courtesy, common sense and bans will be more effective than an illegal names list. |
