Post subject: How should we punish point passing? - Penality Guidelines |
|
|
Please vote for what you believe to be the most suitable penalty for a player caught point passing (first occasion caught). The poll will be open for 30 days, and the result may alter (if the poll favours one option) the penalty we issue.
The current guidelines are:
Quote: |
Point Passing -
Always points will be removed from the accounts involved.
If a serious amount of points passed ALL accounts owned by those involved will have ALL points stripped from accounts and ban applied.
Bans for point passing:
Minor (5) - less than 3 games involved
Medium (15) - 4-6 games involved
Major (30) - 6-10 games involved
Serious (100 - max) - 10 plus games involved
Repeated offences of point passing will result in Serious ban (100 days - 1000 days) 6 month reset rule does not apply here! |
I considered altering it to the following:
Point passing -
3 games or less - no ban points stripped on all accounts involved
4-5 games - 5 day ban and points stripped from all accounts involved
6-10 games - 15 day ban and points stripped from all accounts involved
11+ games 30 day ban and points stripped from all accounts involved

I think that it would be more insightful to discuss the motivations behind point passing. Is it mainly to jack up their points and consequently the "prestige" that goes with it? The feeling of admiration when a player with 100k walks into a lobby?
Ways in which players could pass points -
Players could create dummy accounts with 1000 points and get them to lose to a higher account.
If the players are more patient, they could wait for 10 minutes and collect the +100 per player that is paid out.
These things have a nuisance value, but not much else(How does it change my chances of getting a game?)
I think that stripping points is an adequate disincentive for wasting the time that moderators need to spend chasing up there cases. |

Perhaps points should be stripped to 0 so those accounts can't be used again. |
