well, i got one more little thing that speaks for the blacks:
- if you hit fortune, and you are asked "go to... (any of your blacks)", you can if you e. g. get closer to start or wanna jump over a opponent property.
- if one of your opponents hits fortune and is asked if he wants to go to one of your blacks, he often cant because it would cost him money. if he does (e. g. to avoid green), you gain.
- if, however, you hit fortune and are asked to go to an opponent's white, you still can, if it benefits you.
what speaks for the whites:
- if your opponents hit fortune and are asked if they want to go to another opponent's white, the'll sometimes do it and therefore often let the owner of white gain cash.
as 4 whites and 4 blacks are mathematically even, that fortune-factor may be the auxilary factor that makes one of em better.
so i'd tend to own 4 blacks rather than 4 whites.
but probably the risk of getting only 3, and the better income when owning 1 or 3 makes white worth more in early and middle auctioning.
well, one reasonable case where you got the option between 4 blacks and 4 whites might be, when you hold 2 blacks and 2 whites, and someone else has 2 blacks and 2 whites and you trade for a set of 4 each. |

Okay, as a result from a chat in the lobby, i am explaining more detailled.
The bottomline will be that blacks are equal to white, not better and not worse.
Players choices like "go to...?" will, for simplicity reasons, not be taken into account.
I am using a 4p game for my samples.
premises:
- every player is landing equally often on black
- every player is landing equally often on white
- white and black are hitten equally often
given:
- player white owns 4 whites
- player black owns 4 blacks
- player 3 owns nothing
- player 4 owns nothing
- every player hits 1 black per round/lap
- every player hits 1 white per round/lap
then:
PLAYER WHITE
- earns 4 (number of players) x 150 (income from white) = 600
- pays 150 (by hitting black)
---
+450
PLAYER BLACK
- earns 3 (number of opponents) x 150 (income from black) = 450
- pays 0 (because landing on black is free for him)
---
+450
PLAYER 3
- earns 0
- pays 150 (by hitting black)
---
-150
PLAYER 4
- earns 0
- pays 150 (by hitting black)
---
-150
conclusion:
it doesnt matter who owns black and who owns white. you can exchange the possessions, like trading 4 blacks for 4 whites, and (luck factor excluded) nothing will change. everybody will have the same amount of cash after a round/lap. |

well 4 blacks r better than 4 whites
reason:
player with 4 blacks dont have to pay anything when he hit on whites & because of that he can use his cash in buying properties & upgrading it slowly even if he has little cash as money will come from bonus & 4 blacks while he dont have to pay anything.
i know player with 4 whites will also make money but the diff is he has to pay on blacks while other will not
what i want to say is that player with 4 blacks can plan his game in a better way than a player with 4 whites
more than 60 % of time 4 blacks will beat 4 whites _________________

well, i consider that one of the many little externalitys.
it also makes a difference when players hit fortune and are asked "go to carbon extractors?" or "go to energy channeling center?"
people will tend to go to white more often than to black for obvious reasons. especially the player owning whites will almost always go to to extractors when asked.
i'd consider the "go to...?"-fortune more impacting on the black-white balance than what you stated about being able to upgrade easier when holding black.
however, as i said in my example post, those subtleties arent taken into account on my maths. (for including them in calculations, we'd have to know how often players are asked "go to...", how often it asks to go to black, how often to white and how often to anything else etc.)
edit:
sim, are your 60% : 40% an estimation of yours or are they statistics or someone else's calculations? |

Once again, its purely situational. Neither 4 blacks or 4 whites wins a game. It MAY but one cannot rely on them purely. Imo, sets are always better then whites or blacks, though since whites and blacks are beneficial, they should go for a high price, hence make the opponet(s) pay a bit then have money to get your set. |
