I will most probably never play again as I've been banned.
(sayd "F. Y." to a rude guy, oh boy!)

Anyways, I had some ideas/suggestions.

First of all, lots of players play as one icon and get used to it. I, for example, usually played with "bomb" icon (suited my nickname well :]). Now when there are multiple people in one game who always play with one icon, somebody's gotta be a bit sad, and the possibility of property/board location mix-up is there. The game is run on client, so there's nothing that could not allow people to play as their favorite icons in scope of their own boardview even in one game, it will only require some code changes. I don't see any cons except, perhaps, that "authentic boardgame feel".. which I would gladly give away anyways :].

Also, a comfortable interface can be thought up... like an option of selecting your default icon. If this icon is overrided, a dialog "would you like to emulate your default icon or choose another one?". Or this dialog could pop-up when you try to select the icon that was already selected.

That's an interesting ideea.
I always play with the same icon - lucky me because mostly i'm the first or second on the table list of players and i can choose it.

most people arent bothered about their icon, but some people get distracted when they cant play with their icon, so i think this would go down to the vote, good idea though

I actually did poor decisions a couple of times when my usual icon was attached to other player due to this fact. And my chat experience with others says they also did such mistakes.

yes i know a few people who get really stuck if their icon is used and i know of a few people who use others icons to confusse them too lol

husky she was referring to me , and yes against certain people i do use it as a strategy .
for example i know if you use Helens icon she gets all ruffled and confused and so it distracts her from playing.

so yes this can sometimes be used as a strategy before you even start the game.

lol i might have to try that in the future. But seriously its just an icon and yes i have 2 other back up icons and i have never had to go further. It is just an icon and i dont think its worththe time.
