Benjamin owned no property for income and had no cash (other than that gain in the trade). Gipsty on the other hand had 4200 cash and yellow fully upgraded. This meant that gipsty had enough to instantly build to 3/4 upgrades, and would very quickly after manage full upgrades.
This would give gipsty 1st place within that game without question. In contrast benjamin would be unable to improve his position from 5th place with this trade, unless he got very lucky to scape a 4th place. The cash sum exchanged did not give him enough to feasibly fight for a better end rank position.

Later in the game at -130 start
Benjamin_2 buys 1 black from lindaa for 1500.
Only benjamin owned no other blacks!
