after reading some posts in this forum, i started thinking about blacks and whites.

i'll start with my conclusion:
4 whites are as much worth as 4 blacks.

i think this is true as well for 2p games as it is for multiplayer games , but it has to be the case that its 4 whites vs 4 blacks.

Consider the following in a 2 player game:
- your opponent got 4 whites
- you got 4 blacks

as there are as many whites as blacks, you and your opponent will hit black and white equally often.


- you hit your opponents white
opponent +150
you +0

- you hit your black
opponent +0
you +0

- your opponent hits his white
opponent +150
you +0

- your opponent hits your black
opponent -150
you +150

opponent:
+150
+0
+150
-150
-----
+150

you:
+0
+0
+0
+150
-----
+150


after all, your opponent has made 150$, and you have made 150$.


or, if it it is useful to your understanding:
your opponent gives you 150 for each 300 he earned.


well, i tell you this because i noticed that people usually prefer whites and are willing to pay a lot more for them than for blacks.

so, if you're aiming for all 4 blacks OR whites,
you shouldn't pay more for the whites than you would for your blacks,
and reverse,
you shouldn't pay less for the blacks than you would for the whites.

Notice that this is only true for all 4 of a color, not only 3. Since 3 whites bring you 130 on a hit, and 3 blacks bring you only 100, the 3 blacks are worse.

so:
- 1 white is better than 1 black
- 3 whites are better than 3 blacks

- 2 whites are equally to 2 blacks
- 4 whites are equally to 4 blacks

Me and crabbs did a good thread on this, the more players there are in the game a full set of blacks will subdue the other players more than white.
