I was playing a game... I had 5000 cash, and my opponent had -1300 when he just purchased the 3rd green for 2000.
Start was around 50, and neither of us had any other completed, monopolies and we each had 2 whites.
I purchased 3 blacks for 500 each, purchased the reds for 660 each, fully upgraded...
Meanwhile, there was about 7-10 bonuses in a row, and my oppoenent was able to fully upgrade his greens, and he beat me.

If I can get a player to -1300 cash, where the interest should be stabbing him in the heart every round, he shouldn't be able to uses bonuses to dig himself out of a hole, and then win through crazy amounts of luck by avoiding my properties and landing on bonus almost every round.

Not only did he beat me, but he beat me literally on the last turn of the game. He was on pink, and rolled something to end on the dark greens, with about 50 left in credit. And then I rolled and passed start and went bankrupt.

A game that is that one-sided shouldn't end up with a coin flip based on who gets doubles/jail/bigger role of the dice.

Cutting bonus in half is nice, but I still say that people shouldn't get insane multiples of the start value for hitting bonus. I think it should be capped at 2x Start or 3x Start max. That way, when Start is under 100, Bonus isn't gifting out tons of cash into the flow.

People bid on properties knowing that "eventually someone will hit Bonus, and everything will be OK".

madmacs, there is one player on here who uses the bonus to his its full potential, SKUNK, will buy things like green, blacks, or a redwhatever to complete his monopolies and will go heavily in debt to buy his property because he knows , as soon as you go into debt (anything over -500* the game balance swings towards the person who has no money, and they dont land on anyones properties and everyone lands on binus too much to save him.
so SKUNK has actually incorporated the bonus into his strategy.

That's a fact. But i'm not so shure if this is a good thing for the game or not. Wink

well, if this kind of play is going to stay, then we all might aswell adjust our kind of play to suit the way the game AI plays to get as much benefit from it as possible.

That is an interesting idea to reduce bonus during recession by half. I'll think about it.

However, this would remove 'fluctuating economy' from endgame.

Could u explain what flucting economy is as i wouldnt hav a clue lol. But Madmacs came up with a good idea that it should be bonus should be doubled at the begining therefore encouraging more buying at the begining and less in recession. In other words it would divide by 4 once u hit recession.

So right now it is at 500 in 2p, so what if we make it 1000 at start and 250 in recession. This would encourage more bidding and in recession less houses.

muffin, the fluctuating economy is what we have now, where as soon as the recession hits, you find that one person has no money, then they have a bit of money, and everyone will go through this period of no income then a few bonuses etc etc.

Kreso i think if we were to reduce bonus by half it would reduce the amount that the economy fluctuated, also would reduce game time by around 5 minutes, and would take away the luck factor or nearly dead players coming back to win because of bonus helping them when nearly dead.

Well from the way u have said that, fluctuating economy is bad for the game and this adds another reason to decrease bonus. But for kreso to say its good means that there must be something else to it. By the way thanks for clarifying that bill.
