Post subject: And Iran; Iran So Far Away ♫ Reply with quote

Forgive me for either the gaps or inadequacies in my research, but I'm curious to know what exactly is... "going on" in Iran, and subsequently, the Middle East. Specifically Palestine and the Iranian sanctions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatah%E2%80%93Hamas_conflict

The following video is rather dated, but still relevant.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkt2w1M1hPE

From what I can gather, around 2010 or so, economic sanctions were placed on Iran by various countries due to the suspicion that they were building nuclear arms. As for the Fatah-Hamas conflict, each side is struggling for control over Palestine, which is a territory located within a territory, Israel. Is Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad somehow connected to or supports either group? And how is Syria and the Syrian uprising connected? Is that like... a country within Iran as well? Embarassed

Based on this recent article, what I can gather is that not only the sanctions, but Fatah as well, are working to deny the people of Palestine basic necessities for living, because of the 2006 elections. Fatah seemed to have the ideal that the Palestinian people should starve because they didn't vote for them. Charles Krauthammer words disturbed me as well.

In the words of a good friend of mine: "It is appalling that cowardly regimes are allowed to enact these kind of things as denying humanitarian aid would worsen the situation for a country that always has so little. Morever, the regime doing this doesn't even originate from Iran. It's this kind of tyrannical BS that leads to wars. You want control of somewhere? Sure, starve and provoke until thousands have died; have the honest, oblivious men in your command slaughtered while you do your cowardly whim for power. The world is not run by real men anymore, just pansies with the biggest hired protection racket. I remember the sanctions being enacted. As for the inner conflict, It's one that should be ruled by the country itself, not by others interfering. I understand the preventative of all out war, but not the deaths of untold souls just because you think the country has no free power to control its own conflicts what-so-ever. Every nation has grown after it's own civil downfalls."

I'm rather ignorant on the entire matter. I've been doing research for the past 2 hours, link after link, but more information just means more questions. Answer, definitions, and clarifications are highly requested.

From what I can gather from the above links, there have been peace efforts made between the two groups controlling Palestine. However, most of which have failed and/or been ignored by either side.

Moreover, after researching the main page of Iran's Government Website, it seems that Ahmadinejad is sitting idly by, ears and eyes shut to the world and his internal affairs, as his country writhes from hunger, strife, and illness.

Radical Islam is growing.
Hundreds of thousands of Iranians chant "Death to America, Death to Israel..." and burn the flags...
Palestinians will never accept the state of Israel.
Palestinians have a terrorist organization as their government.
And much much much more including an education of hate

Bottom line, there will never be peace.

As morbidly accurate as that is... yep. That pretty much sums up everything.
