Post subject: Clerification Reply with quote

This is Heckieswife here,
I have few suggestions/comments/complaints..
I do not wish to offend anyone with my topic.

My suggestion/comment
I would like to know if someone could clean up the forums?

I don't know who has control over that issue.
There are too many changes being made under topics reguarding the "new game".
Now don't get me wrong some of the changes are good but others are not, either way it is kinda hard to make out excatly how things are going to be with the new game due to the suggestions and edits as well as add-in and removeables ( being done under several topics). I would like to be able to go under one topic and see what is going to be the rules and regulations.
If changes are made it would be much easier to catch and understand the changes that way vs going through all diffrent topics.

I spent way to many hours this morning trying to go through and find out info needed for the new system and I (pretty sure others too) got very confused.
I can't spend 7 or more hrs reading all these diffrent things under so many diffrent topics, I do understand that this is all in good trying to get the game to be better
I just think it needs to be a much more efficiant way of doing so.

Ok, now for my complaint.
Somewhere on here (can't remember which topic, cuz it do dang many)
I seen where the players are going to have to choose 3 names and can only play with those names. (who, how and why?)
Now with that it was also said somewhere that if you don't play with your names on a daily basis you will lose point/coins (whatever the heck it is ya'll are deciding on)
I 100% don't agree with that. Say i did decide to add money to the account to get all the extra features and something came up (work, school, health issues exct) and didn't play for a few days or a few weeks would the rule of losing points/coins still be in effect? I would hope not because even as crappy(yes they are crappy, i play their too) as (zynga) facebook games are if you pay to play or have extra features you dont lose what you have purchased due to not playing on a daily.
That's not cool, I have taking breaks on and off again from this site with always the optioin of returning with what i stopped playing with and the reasons of breaks inbetween times had nothing to do with the server system or game play options btw.
It was due to nothing happing when reports where made, and things of that nature not because the game needed changeing.
I also read somewhere on here how basicly a portion of the bank from your game goes back to the game owners not back to the players.
What the heck is up with that? To me that makes no since expecially since
all of it is virtural anyways. We are already getting stuck with a small portion as it is if we win. so now we are getting double stuck, we put in more than we get out of it.
The portion of what you win from a game is no where near the portion from all what all players put in the game.

Comment
I do however like some of the suggested and made changes such as the stat's of the game, blaklist, new lobby, muting and things like that but I am
by no means feeling the whole casino theme vs the space theme. I prefer the space theme, yes it could use a makeover but over all the theme of the game is fine to me. It was unique that way. I would much rather at least still have some of the same game i have been playing for 7 yrs. yes I have and my husband have been here since 2005 or as i like to say since the concrete was laid.lol..
So more familiariaty of the game we have been playing would be great.

Thanks for your post.

All this mess in the forum is the result of live discussion, so it's hard to be cleared right now. A bit later - hopefully in few weeks - we'll come to some conclusion and will post new features all together so everyone can see.

Concerning the points and coins. We are now about giving up the idea of points at all, 'cause the amount of coins (games won) will represent the players' skills anyway. If only the coins stay, no one will take them away from you for not participating in game. So you can make as long pauses as you wish.

We're glad that you liked some of the new features, it's very encouraging. We'll try our best to keep you and your husband interested in the game for many years more!

thx for the quick responce, yes i do see that it is pretty much being a live discussion that was was i was like it is way to many topics to be clear on any of it right now.

I am very glad to see that i will not lose if i choose not to play for a few. That was a major concern. I am more than willing to try the new changes out and give you all the benifit of the dought. however I was more concerend that the game we all love is being watered downed and/or dumbed up. Ya know.

The reason it has been given a casino look is that it is being turned into ONLINE GAMBLING.

That's right. Illegal in many countries, very possibly including America, that thing that ruins families and that parents try to protect their children from.

All in one easy-to-install app Very Happy

Is this true?
I just dislike the whole casino look personally, but the illegal part makes it worse. Yes in most of the US online gambling is a crime.

Why is/would it be considered as gambling though? When it's just a game, I could see if we would be able to convert coins into real cash but if that is not in effect then it shouldn't be labeled as gambling..not sure what to think on this one.

How is it not gambling?

The coins are chips, just like in a casino.

The only difference is you either lose now or lose later - you cannot cash your chips in, so simply cannot win.

How much you lose, though, depends on skill and luck. All the bad bits of gambling, with no win!

Legally it may not correspond to gambling because no player can profit from the game. That there is a gambling spirit behind it, i agree.

Now, I am positive there will be no player (except the one very best player) who will actually be able to play the game without buying coins. This is because it is not a sum-zero game.

After you reach your skill level, you will be matching opponents of similar skills and you would be winning and losing roughly the same amount of games. That if the ladder points are just splitted. In such scenario, you roughly lose 0.10 cents per game on average.

So in this sense, I would agree with the fact that on average, the game costs 10 cents per game. But it is absolutely false that playing fairly (i.e. trying to win every game) good players will be able to play without buying coins in the long run.

Note that if my statement were false, it is actually even worse ethically. It would mean that there is a way to transfer coins from the incoming new players, to players higher in the ladder. But this does not makes sense either...how the top 10 players in our current ranklist could get extra 0.10 coins they need on average just from the newcomers?

I'm not saying that the method is wrong, but it is less transparent, as it gives the false impression that you could survive without buying coins, if you develop the skills. Why just not charge 10 cents per game per player then?

But i guess that would scare away addicted players...

Guys, sorry if i'm sounding dumb here.

Once the game opens up to the mass market, if you have to pay for coins to gain the opportunity to win coins leading on to accumulating them, will there be an option to redeem them?

Will the ranking system be on points or coins or a bit of both?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

Cool

I don't think this is relevant any more as the original coins system (where you bet them) has been shelved in favour of a "play as much as you like" system, outlined here: http://www.galacticmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5824

I have the feeling it's not completely decided yet but coins may be used to pay for subscription and other advanced features. Possibly some players will like and actively embrace the possibility of playing for coins if they feel they want to. Of course it's been mentioned the use of coins to control the correct use of the complaints section also. All good ideas that should help make the new game fun and interesting.
The more features available the better and the more people will be attracted to the game.

Some good points falun and thanks for the input.

If the game was to really target profitability, then points for regulars and coins for the gamblers would be the way forwards.

I'm starting to see the controversy resurface that the unrated point-betting games started...... Exclamation

Furthermore, gambling can be fun, so long as it doesn't become consuming or addicitve. I don't have many qualms about it. And there are some legal gambling sites on the net, varies by country.

However, I think polluting the nature of G.M. is something we should avoid. While the coins cannot be exchanged for actual money, one is basically playing to gain a cheaper subscription fee, ie have more coins.

The developers will decide on a way to be paid for their efforts and in such continue to improve the game and experience into the future or they will apply a very low flat rate to keep the old school players here happy, in which case they will probably go bankrupt, loose interest and the game will die.
Surley it is prudent to apply a system that caters for the needs and wants of all those that come across the site. This with out a doubt includes those that will embrace a coin system that can be added to, played for, and can be used to obtain additional features and rewards including subscription payment if appropriate.

It's hardly an addictive gamble to play for a few virtual coins on a game that takes between 30 min and an hour. The coins element just adds a bit of fun to the party. You can do nothing with points and it is an outdated concept.

edited spelling.
